An Open Letter To My Forever Friend

To my dearest friend,

Our friendship is something only God could coordinate, you know why. You’ve been around for as long as I can remember. I recently asked you exactly how we became friends, and your answer reminded me of something…your selflessness. (Not that I needed reminding.) I know Shawn would agree with me that you are the best person we’ve ever met, and we are so, so fortunate to have you in our lives.

You are the type of friend that has made me a better me. You never made me feel like I was a burden to you even though deep down, I knew I was. Thank you for always answering my phone calls when I was on my way home from work. Thank you for being my stand-in during the time I had Piper because Shawn had to work. Thank you for driving 5 hours just to watch musicals with me. Thank you for always being down for late night McFlurry runs. Thank you for being you. You have seen me in the good, bad, and the ugly…you’re such a trooper.

Not only have you have been there through every heartbreak and breakdown, but you’ve also celebrated with me in every moment of victory in my life. You never stopped being there even when growing apart was the easiest option. Thank you for embracing me in literally every season of my life…from a messy tween to messier motherhood. You adore my children and love my husband like a brother. You deserve every ounce of happiness. I hope I’m half of the blessing you are to me. I love you dearly, my forever friend.

  1. Gillian, What a wonderful tribute to one of the most precious gifts you will ever have–a true friend who loves you to her core. How wise to recognize and treasure her! Of course I know she’s incredibly blessed as well. 😌
